Mass Effect: Tell me another story about the shepherd

The Return Of The King If you told me earlier this year that the day after Cyberpunk 2077 came out I'd be thinking more about Mass Effect rather than Johnny Silverhand et al. I, like many would think you a fool. Whilst, FOR THE RECORD I am enjoying Cyberpunk (despite the many inexcusable bugs etc.) that is the situation I find myself in. Honestly, I was more than happy with the announcement of the Mass Effect legendary edition an excuse to play through Mass Effect again is enough for me. So, when I found out that not only was a brand new Mass Effect game announced at the game awards last week, but it was revealed to continue the story from Mass Effect 3 (or at least it will in some form, but we'll get to that later) I lost my absolute shit.  A million questions immediately flooded my mind, did Shephard survive? How much time has passed? Which ending is canon? Did Garrus finish his calibrations? If you've seen the trailer, you'll know that essentially no information is ...

Console Wars: Rise Of The Machines

So the New Consoles are finally here. Whether you're a die hard Xbox or PlayStation fan, it's always an exciting occasion when the new hardware launches. To me, it feels like a real occasion, similar to when a huge game launches, but on a larger scale. It's exciting to see that both consoles have been so well received (for the record, I don't have a favourite, I play both) and I look forward to being able to get my hands on both of them, although I have no intention of paying an extortionate price, nor do I intend to have to fight someone to secure a console, so I'll be waiting for the time being. But now that both consoles have launched, I thought it would be fun to give my thoughts On what think we'll see this generation. Well, its safe to say that PlayStation 'won' the last round of the console war. After the infamous and frankly disastrous launch of the Xbox one (still having nightmares about not being able to play used games), Xbox saw a mass exodus...

Sarah Connor is one of the most underrated characters in cinema history

Opinion: Sarah Connor is one of the most underrated characters in cinema history. Before I begin, I want to start with a brief disclaimer: I'd like to explore this topic/argument in more detail, potentially putting a video essay together, so if it seems like I've rushed over something or if I keep saying 'I'll talk about that another time' that's why. Also, this is all for fun, I'm no film professor or anything, just a guy who loves movies (and REALLY loves Terminator 2) so take everything I say with a pinch of salt. I must have watched Terminator 2 close more than 50 times. There's no doubt in my mind that it's the reason I love movies so much. I know it sounds a bit cringy but, after watching T2 for the first time, I realised that movies were (or at least could be) more than just stories. In short, I love Terminator 2, it's a top 3 movie for me. However, I watched it recently and felt embarrassed. Despite having watched it so many times, somet...

We need a new KOTOR

We need a new KOTOR game now, more than ever . It is hard to imagine pleasing Star Wars fans in 2003. I know the prequel trilogy enjoys no small amount of love from fans nowadays but, at the time of its release, many felt disappointed, especially by the first two efforts in Lucas’s second trilogy. However, in 2003, Canadian developer Bioware released something seemingly universally loved by Star Wars fans; ‘Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic’ or ‘KOTOR’. KOTOR is still regarded as one of the best games of all time, bringing an unfamiliar era of the Star Wars mythos to life in a manner that was dynamic, compelling, and downright awe inspiring in places and I think we need a new KOTOR now, more than ever. Quick disclaimer: I’m not counting 2011’s ‘The Old Republic’. I know it has continued the story and still has a relatively healthy player base, but I think Star Wars needs more single player experiences, given the messy [although redeemed] Battlefront 1&2 of recent ...

CD Projekt, benefit of the doubt?

So, like many of you I'm sure, I've been patiently waiting for Cyberpunk 2077. I'm also sure like many of you, the news of yet another delay for the game was... disappointing for me. I have however, thought about it for the past few days and here's me, trying to make sense of it. I still vividly remember seeing that first trailer back in 2013 just after I'd finished the Witcher 2, my head full of wonder and speculation at what those same developers could do in a sleek sci-fi setting. But, here we are. 7 years later (8 after the actual announcement), with the finish line in sight and despite the mandatory 6 day work weeks, despite already having 3 release dates just this year, we have yet another delay. In the long run, it's hard to argue against the game being delayed (please here me out I promise there's more to my argument). We all know that given the proper time and resources, CD Projekt are capable of incredible things, things that set the bar across th...

An introduction

Hi Welcome? Abandon all hope ye who enter here? Not really sure how to follow that up... Here's a spot for me to rant about movies, video games, comic books or whatever it is I've been occupying my time with recently. Don't really want to put any one focus on anything here, so don't expect to find any review focused page or anything, just a space to write, share my opinions with the world, for better or worse... let's see how this goes.
